Fmaj7 Chord on Guitar (Major 7Th)
Fmaj7 is the friendly way to play an F-family chord: no barre, a soft jazzy sound, and the open high e string does the work.
How to play it
- Place your 1st finger on the 1st fret of the B (2nd) string.
- Place your 2nd finger on the 2nd fret of the G (3rd) string.
- Place your 3rd finger on the 3rd fret of the D (4th) string.
- Strum from the D (4th) string down and let the open high e ring.
Fingering tip: Press just behind the fret wire, not on top of it. If a note buzzes, add a little pressure or move closer to the fret.
Practice loops
Play these slowly with one strum per beat. Loop each line for two minutes.
- Fmaj7 - C - Fmaj7 - C - soft pop feel. Strum each chord four times, then change.
- Fmaj7 - G - C - Am - dreamy loop. Strum each chord four times, then change.
